Biological Activity:
The EC50, determined by the dose-dependant proliferation of mouse BALB/c 3T3 cells is 0.25~1 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 1*106~4*106 units/mg protein.

Fibroblast Growth Factor-basic, also known as FGF-2, is a heparin-binding member of the  bFGF superfamily of molecules. It plays important role in cell proliferation and differentiation associated with embryogenesis, tissue regeneration, wound healing, CNS development, angiogenesis, and tumor progression. Additionally, bFGF is a potent mitogenic agent for a wide variety of mesoderm-derived cells including BALB/c 3T3 fibroblasts, capillary and endocardial endothelial cells, myoblasts, vascular smooth muscle cells, mesothelial cells, glial and astroglial cells, and adrenal cortex cells.
bFGF in E. coli is a single and non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 155 amino acids with a molecular mass of 17.2 kDa.

Notes: It is recommended that the product is reconstituted with sterile water into a final concentration of no more than 0.5 mg/ml. Store the reconstituted product in aliquots at -20°C. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles and exposure to frequent temperature changes.
The use of strong acids and alkalis, strong oxidants, and high concentrations of organic solvents should be avoided to protect the product from denaturation.
